1985 | Hamilton Spectator, 15 Apr 1880, Western District Coursing Club (Hamilton VIC) advertisement in the name of E. Walter, Hon. Secretary. ____ Hamilton Spectator, 17 Apr 1880 Ejectment Edward Walter v. Francis Raymond. Mr. Horwitz for plaintiff; Mr. Pitman for defendant. This was an application for ejectment, under the Landlord and Tenants Act. Edward Walter examined and put in an agreement of defendant to occupy as tenant. Served notice of intention to recover possession on the defendant, and afterwards made defendant a weekly tenant, at 1s per week, in order to give defendant time to move. Plaintiff's title was Crown Grant. Order for ejectment within 14 days. ____ Edward WALTER "disappeared" from Hamilton in the late 1880s for reasons which are unknown, but he might have been a victim of the 1880s economic crash. He was the "black sheep" of his family being the Secretary of the Hamilton Coursing Club and was heavily involved in the Hamilton Racing Club where he is recorded as Clerk of the Course in newspaper reports of the time. Coming from a family of devout Bible Chistians, it is no surprise to learn that his elder brother Ambrose Willcock WALTER would pointedly change the subject of conversation whenever Edward's name was mentioned. Charles Vincent "Pud" TREADWELL a Noradjuha identity and distant relative of Edward, claimed to have seen him somewhere in northern NSW while he was there shearing. Edward was accompanied by a "new" wife and family. ____ | WALTER Edward (I2983)
