On this web site countries, counties, regions, states and provinces are where possible, identified using Chapman Codes. This system was created by the British historian, Dr. Colin R. Chapman MA, FSG, in the 1970s, and as intended, it provides a widely used shorthand method of describing regions in terms of the counties, regions, states and provinces existing in the 19th. and 20th. centuries. The data displayed in these pages has been collected and stored using the English family history program Family Historian V7.0.23 written and sold by Calico Pie Limited. I highly recommend this program as it is easily understood and regularly updated both with free upgrades and more comprehensive major upgrades. |
