    Enlisted 14 Aug 1914. Promoted to L/Cpl and wounded at Gallipoli on 8 Aug 1915 and repatriated home to NZ. Recovered and re-trained as an officer and returned to the Middle East as a 2nd. Lieutenant in the NZ Mounted Rifles. Later promoted to Lieutenant before being killed in action on 31 Oct 1917 at Beersheba, Palestine.
