    Notes:

    Military:
    Killed in action on 21 Mar 1918 at Morchies, Pas-de-Calais, FRA. According to the Battalion diary it appears that he died as a result of a gas shell attack when he was caught without his box respirator in use. He has no known grave but is remembered on the Arras Memorial to the Missing which records the sacrifice of almost 35,000 UK, South African and New Zealand soldiers who died in the Arras sector and have no known grave. Lest We Forget.

    Buried:
    No known grave. Remembered on a panel on Bay 7. The wall panels used to record the names of the missing at this memorial are unfortunately, almost unreadable.
