5289 Some doubt must exist as to the parentage of both of the children of Marjorie PALMER (m.n. HEARD). Daughter Betty Doreen PALMER just might have been the legitimate daughter of David Henry PALMER when the dates and times of travel to Gallipoli are considered. However, Harold Heard PALMER was born 4.5 years after the death of David Henry PALMER at Gallipoli, so it can be conclusively stated that he was the result of another union. HEARD Marjorie (I24845)

5295 Some problems with this record as it appears that at some stages Herbert Arthur PIPER was known as Albert Arthur PIPER. e.g. VIC Birth record 4280/1883. The facts that are irrefutable are those relating to his military service in WWI where he was an original ANZAC. His battalion, the 9th., was part of the covering force on the Gallipoli beaches which was among the first to go ashore on 25 April, 1915. He transferred to the Postal Corps on 5 Feb 1916 where he was promoted to Staff- Sergeant and later to Warrant Officer, Class 1. Lest We Forget. PIPER Herbert Arthur (I13274)

Died in a wartime aircraft accident as a result of enemy action.

See miltary entry for more details. Lest We Forget.
