1121 Cremation records shows second given name as 'Struthress' which is incorrect.

The three STEWART sisters listed all appear in this database and they all married my
relatives.

Agnes Struthers STEWART (1884-1973)
Isabel Walker STEWART (c. 1885-1962)
Sarah Margaret (Sadie) STEWART (c. 1899-1976)

Agnes married George SYMONS (1861-1935) after being born in Portland, Oregon USA.
Isabel married Herman James John HILL (c. 1883-1963).
Sadie married Cecil Penaluna HILL (1896-1967) who was the brother of Herman James
John HILL, so it is a case of two sisters marrying two brothers.

For gallantry and devotion to duty. For conspicuous bravery on 15/6/1915 at Givenchy. Finding himself alone in a captured German trench he was attacked by an enemy bombing party where he continued firing until his rifle was destoyed by a bomb. In withdrawing he found a man with both legs broken. He bandaged his legs and carried him into safety under heavy rifle and machine gun fire. For conspicuous bravery and devotion to duty near Morcourt, E. of Corbie on 8/8/18.

This N.C.O. displayed considerable dash and leadership througout. At the head of his men he was the first to enter Morcourt and personally took more than 20 prisoners. Though badly enfiladed both during the advance and on his objective he infused his men with an enthusiasm and dash that overcame all obstacles. He showed a complete disregard for his personal safety and was a mass of energy throughout.
