Notes:

Had a very tattered criminal record as he was sentenced to gaol on at least three occasions. Firstly, to one year on 24 Sep 1869, for attempting to kill his wife. Promised to reform on his release. Secondly, to seven years in March 1872, for arson and thirdly for an unknown crime about 1883. He and his wife Catherine (m.n. McGINTY) co-habitated from time to time after his various releases from prison.
