- Bruce "Bugsy" COMBEN played 202 senior games for the Carlton Football Club in the Victorian Football League. He was club best and fairest player in two years and club captain from 1958 to 1960 as well as playing for the Victorian state team in eleven matches. He was renowned as a tough footballer who gave no quarter to anybody. Later he became a Senior Vice-President of the club and was awarded life membership.
He was also an excellent cricketer, playing the game at district level with the North Melbourne club.
