- Killed in action at the tail end of the infamous Battle of Fromelles (Fleurbaix) which was the blackest day in the history of Australia in war. It is very easy to blame incompetent English generals, but in this case the blame lies squarely at the feet of at least a couple of that group of people. Australian casualties totalled 5,533, including 1,917 killed in action - the greatest loss of life in a day in Australian history. Lest We Forget.
