  	EAS-METH-OLD-X-825-X A former sexton at the Eastern Cemetery informed me many years ago that he believed that the headstone was wooden and that a grass fire had swept the cemetery and wooden headstones were destoyed. At the time of the first burial in this family group, during the 1850s gold rush, substantial material for building anything were in short supply and very expensive and wood was a cheaper alternative.

  		South Blatchborough, near Bradworthy DEV In the time of my ancestors the manor house on the left was owned by the CALMADY family. My great-great uncle and aunt John WALTER (1799-1862) and Elizabeth (m.n. WICKETT, 1801-1874) lived in the white tenants house then known as West Blatchborough. My great-great grandparents William WALTER (1790-1858) and Grace (m.n. VINSON, 1796-1867) lived at North Blatchborough which no longer exists.
