- Had a very checkered career in the Army. Classified as medically unfit - blind in one eye and 40% vision in the other. Deserted 27 Nov 1942. Appears to have been on the run until 16 Jun 1945. Sentenced at a District Court Martial to be discharged and held in detention for 21 months on 10 Jul 1945. The remainder of his sentence was remitted on 18 Mar 1946.
