- As a POW while aboard the 'Montevideo Maru' in the South China Sea where it was mistakenly attacked by the 'USS Sturgeon' whose crew was unaware that there were more than 1000 Allied POWs locked in the holds.
Remembered on Panel 27 at the Rabaul War Cemetery and Memorial, Kopoko, East New Britain, Papua New Guinea. Also remembered on the headstone of his parents at the Winchelsea Cemetery, Winchelsea VIC. Lest We Forget.
