Blessed are the dead
which die in the Lord
I am
erected here to perpetuate
the memory of
Charles,
son of John Shearm Cottle
by Mary his wife, of West
Youlston in this parish, who died on
the 10th day of Septr in the year of
our Lord 1828
aged 24 years.
'Twas in the morning of my life,
That death for me was cut:
To end my loyal years of strife,
And at the call I went.
So now my friends adieu adieu
Till the great trump shall sound:
The earth dissolve God's people rise,
From sea and solid ground.
Then then with fadeless beauty cloth'd
I shall from sleep arise;
And oh! shall I that day behold
My kindred in these skies.'
