  Notes	Disaster came to the life of Ellen in 1924 when she was admitted as a patient to the Kew Mental Asylum in Melbourne VIC. This fact is revealed in the AIF record of service of her son William James Joseph PIPER in the AIF. She was later moved to the Ararat Asylum where it appears that she died in 1935.
