Alfred Edwin BRAY (1872-1953). A veteran of the Boer War and World War I.
In the Boer War served as a Corporal with Bethune's Mounted Infantry, a Sergeant in Mennes Scouts and as a Trooper in the Bushveldt Carbineers which was the unit in which Breaker Morant had earlier served. During WWI he served as a Private with the 8th Battalion, Australian Infantry at Gallipoli where he was badly wounded. After recovery he was transferred to the Army School of Instruction in Egypt where he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. His health suffered and he was returned to Australia for discharge on medical grounds. Lest We Forget.
